Nippon Oil Research Institute Co., Ltd. (NORI) is a research and consulting firm wholly owned by JX Holdings, Inc..

Japan is a largely mountainous archipelago, is blessed with great natural beauty. However, since it is not endowed with energy resources such as oil, natural gas and coal, Japan has to import these necessities. Nevertheless, the country has developed one of the world's foremost industrialized economies while taking steps to protect its exquisite natural environment. We believe that one of the keys to Japan's continued development is to put in place a system of efficient energy use based on resource-saving, energy-efficient technologies, and consequently, to establish environmental technologies capable of underpinning Japan's progress far into the future.

JX Holding has been established through the joint share transfer by Nippon Oil Corporation and Nippon Mining Holdings, Inc. On July 1, 2010, all the businesses of the both Group Companies were integrated, restructured and reorganized under JX Holdings, resulting the incorporation of three core business companies; Petroleum Refining and Marketing Business Company, Oil and Natural Gas Exploration and Production Business Company and Metals Business Company.

NORI's experienced staff formulate proposals and offer consultation on refinery upgrades and energy-saving and environmental measures based on the expertise and know-how accumulated in JX Group.
